Thanks for stopping by!
If you’re looking for personal finance, money saving, money making and thrifty cooking tips, without being bored to into an early grave, you’ve come to the right place.
This blog is an Aladdin’s cave of tricks I’ve picked up to improve my finances and get some dosh saved away. I’m straight talking, jargon free and like to do things with a smile on my face – so expect a healthy dose of humour along the way!
A bit about David Jack Taylor and Thinking Thrifty
I started this blog after the second landlord in a row sold my apartment from underneath me, meaning I had a couple of months notice to move out. It’s safe to say at this point the shit hit the fan and I decided I needed to take control over my own life, do the grown up thing and save for a mortgage deposit.
Over the first year into this new found thrifty lifestyle I became increasingly disillusioned with the prospect of spending the rest of my days in the UK. I don’t want to pay the ridiculous house prices here in the UK, doing so means I’m left with the choice between spending the rest of my life indebted to the bank, or living in Shits-ville where I can afford to pay it back quicker – great!
I’m now fully focused on early retirement in the sun. I recently took redundancy from my employer with the dream of freelance writing for a living, two days later I had inadvertently invested in a local cafe, which I now run!
Bit by bit I’m putting the building blocks into place to jet off into the sun. You’re more than welcome to come see how I’m doing it. Anything you’d like to see? Just let me know!
