Syn free, Slimming World friendly hotpot

I can feel the backlash coming, this could also be known as Scouse, Lobbies, potato hash amongst others depending on what part of the country you come from. It’s the whole barm / roll / cob debate all over again. It’s a barm for the record! In our house it’s hotpot, and without a single tweak to my grandma’s…

Easy, syn free Slimming World friendly pork meatballs in a tomato ragu

I love meatballs, but the shameless price of 5% fat beef mince has left me susceptible to hives, anxiety attacks and sudden fits of rage. On the bright side 5% fat pork mince remains as faithful to my pocket as ever. Make it into meatballs and serve it with this easy as fudge ragu and you’ve got a cheap…

Low syn, Slimming World friendly salt and pepper chips fake away recipe

OMG, I shit you not, these low syn salt and pepper chips were an incredible fake away. After successfully navigating my way to Slimmer of the Week, a lovely lady who attends my group had placed some Chinese 5 spice seasoning in the winners basket. It’s something I always forget to pick up for one reason or another, but…

Slimming World law dictates, if you want to go and treat yourself to a take away, you can. Just be honest, don’t try and cheat the system, count the syns and keep it in line with your weekly allowance and you’re all good. However, when you’re trying to maximise your weight-loss and save the pennies at the same time,…

The best thing about Slimming World is not having to deprive yourself of the foods you love, it’s a brave man that tells me I can’t have a curry once a week! We love a good Rogan Josh in our house, and admittedly the take away down the road from us is absolutely incredible, however, it’s both bad for…

Pressure King Pro Mediterranean Sausage Casserole: Slimming World Friendly

Mediterranean sausage casserole was not what I was expecting to be cooking last night, but I had spied a reduced packet of pork sausages in Sainsburys and fancied a bit of a change. Plus, I had a guest round at mine who I’m always banging onto about cooking tasty meals for next to naff all, so this presented the…

Regular readers know what a complete and utter tightwad I am, so this pork loin dish was perfect. Paying full price for anything brings me out in cold sweats and a rash - especially where food is concerned. I can be found stalking my local Sainsburys and Co-Op daily. They are an absolute treasure trove of reduced goodies and bargain basement deals, so much so I'm fairly sure they must make a loss on it - bothered loads. Anyhoo, last night was a real CBA affair when it came to cooking dinner. I was knackered from being in the cafe all day and taking on quite a lot of freelance work which I'm doing around busy periods, so my enthusiasm levels for cooking were running on fumes by the time I got home. This is where stockpiling your freezer pays off, not just in a time sense, but a money sense too. I messaged PK and told him to take out the pork loin I had in the freezer as I knew there were a few spare bits in the fridge that needed using too.
