How to make Cottage Pie

Super Tasty Traditional Cottage Pie

It has to be said, the only thing I like about going into the colder months is Christmas and the food I can cook, so after a pretty nippy and windy Manchester day I decided on Cottage Pie for dinner. I sent PK for the ingredients and it wasn’t without its usual drama after he forgot most of items on…

I'm a lover of spicy food, and this recipe comfortably made 10 Mexican style vegetarian fritters

Mexican Style Vegetarian Fritters

I’ve not been very well this last week and it’s left me feeling a little bit “meh” over meat, so I’ve been forced to find some other options and vegetarian fritters seemed like a good place to start. For the first few days of feeling ill I fell into the trap of living off tins of soup and tuna, but…

Mary, Mel and Sue have long scone from Great British Bake Off, but did the new presenting team get your baps in a flap, make you want to kick them in the soggy bottom, or did you welcome them into your home with open barms?

Mary, Mel and Sue have long scone from Great British Bake Off, but did the new presenting team get your baps in a flap, make you want to kick them in the soggy bottom, or did you welcome them into your home with open barms? Personally I loved it, yes fifteen minutes of adverts did my bread in a bit,…

However, if you are too strapped for cash to take yourself to an Italian restaurant, this could be considered a thrifty way to treat yourself by bringing the restaurant into your own home. And, using this technique you don't have to be a chef to pull off a mega tasty dish.

This is how I made Mediterranean sausage casserole using the Pressure King Pro, it took about 30 minutes, is cheap and Slimming World friendly!

Pressure King Pro Mediterranean Sausage Casserole: Slimming World Friendly

Mediterranean sausage casserole was not what I was expecting to be cooking last night, but I had spied a reduced packet of pork sausages in Sainsburys and fancied a bit of a change. Plus, I had a guest round at mine who I’m always banging onto about cooking tasty meals for next to naff all, so this presented the perfect…

Regular readers know what a complete and utter tightwad I am, so this pork loin dish was perfect. Paying full price for anything brings me out in cold sweats and a rash - especially where food is concerned. I can be found stalking my local Sainsburys and Co-Op daily. They are an absolute treasure trove of reduced goodies and bargain basement deals, so much so I'm fairly sure they must make a loss on it - bothered loads. Anyhoo, last night was a real CBA affair when it came to cooking dinner. I was knackered from being in the cafe all day and taking on quite a lot of freelance work which I'm doing around busy periods, so my enthusiasm levels for cooking were running on fumes by the time I got home. This is where stockpiling your freezer pays off, not just in a time sense, but a money sense too. I messaged PK and told him to take out the pork loin I had in the freezer as I knew there were a few spare bits in the fridge that needed using too.

As I’m back on the healthy eating wagon I’m trying to introduce much more fish and white meat into my diet. Spicy Italian Meatballs are a firm favourite in our house, and again this is something I literally made up as I went along.
