Parking fines are the thorn in the side to many motorists in the UK. There is nothing quite like that feeling of rage when you return to your car only to see the dreaded yellow ticket stuck to the windscreen!
If have felt aggrieved and were sure you had done nothing wrong your prayers may just have been answered.
At the tender age of just 18, ingenious entrepreneur Joshua Browder set-up a fantastic free appeals website to help people overturn their parking fines.
Since its launch in August the website has gone on to overturn more than 30,000 parking fines, saving the people who have used the service a monumental £2million in the process.
North London lad Joshua set up the website after he was hit by 30 parking fines in and around the Camden area of London.
86,000 people have gone on to launch appeals against council parking fines using the website since August.
According to a poll of people using the free service, nearly 40% said they were successful in overturning their £60 parking fines.
In total, around £5.2million claims were challenged meaning motorists have avoided paying around £2million since the site launched on August 24.
Donotpay.co.uk makes it really simple for people to launch an appeal by allowing them to select from one of twelve reasons of defence.
It then sends you a custom appeal created by the sites algorithm to the relevant council.
The 18 year old, who taught himself to code at the age of 12, created the service by scanning thousands of documents released under the Freedom of Information Act and also working with a traffic lawyer.
Joshua plans to expand his website to cover private car parks too.
So if you return to your car to find dreaded parking fine ticket, stay calm and check out Donotpay.co.uk, chances are you won’t have to pay a penny!
