My name is David and welcome to Thinking Thrifty.
After working in the utility and finance industry for most of my working life I first decided to write a blog to help others with financial tips and help.
That was back in 2014, and admittedly, I struggled for consistent content and often found myself with writers block. Then in late 2015 I was asked to vacate my apartment by my landlord as he was selling up, the second landlord in succession to do this to me just as I had got settled.
I decided enough was enough. It was their property and they could choose to do what they liked with it, but, it was time to save for my own place, time for me to be the boss of my own destiny. And with that, Thinking Thrifty was born!
I now had a purpose for this blog. I would dedicate myself to being as frugal as possible and save as much as much money as I physically could towards a deposit on my own house. I started the £5,000 Saving Challenge in January, setting myself the challenge of finding a multitude of ways to save and make money that could be saved away towards my end goal.
I hope to inspire others to try out my methods along the way to help achieve their own personal goals, whether it be saving for a mortgage like myself, a wedding, holidays, tackling debt or just looking to stop wasting money.
I myself have been inspired by other money saving frugal bloggers who are living on the breadline. I’m lucky enough to say this is not the case for me. I simply waste a lot of money that could have otherwise been saved. This year is the year that things change, the time of throwing money away is over!
Follow me on my journey towards my financial goal. And as ever if you ever have any tips you would like to share, or even guest blog about, I’d love to hear from you!
